LARGO – The Kiwanis Club of Largo/Mid-Pinellas will co-sponsor its eighth annual Pawfest Saturday, April 5, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive.
Admission is free. Enjoy a great family day in a carnival-like atmosphere while helping to raise funds that the Kiwanis Club will put to good use in the community.
Bring your favorite pooch to participate in games, activities, lessons and demonstrations. Spoil him or her with the bounty of products offered by the many vendors specializing in pet-related products.
New this year is a drawing for a painting made especially for Pawfest by dog artist Brody the border collie. Brody also will give a demonstration of his painting ability on the main stage at 12:15 p.m. At a recent art auction to benefit a dog rescue nonprofit, one of Brody’s paintings sold for $125.
The Upper Suncoast Dog Training Club again will give agility and obedience demonstrations. Also look for a demonstration by Largo police K9 Murphy, who was the Kiwanis Club purchased for the police department and a “lure chase” demonstration by Treasure Coast Swift Dogs.
Other attractions include various dog rescues with adoptable dogs, face painting by Clowns Galore, bounce houses, contests for kids and dogs, Veterinarian of the Year Awards, drawings for four different golf packages and other donated gift baskets, a Largo fire truck display and a car show. The Largo Central Park minature trains will be in operation throughout the weekend.
