CLEARWATER - A shooting suspect was arrested about 7:20 a.m. Friday, May 29, when he showed up for a scheduled court appearance.
According to a report from Clearwater Police, Jerome Lowe, 24, of Clearwater, was charged with aggravated battery and battery by strangulation.
Clearwater Police responded to a shooting at Terrace Road about 7:20 a.m. Friday, and police identified Lowe as the suspect.
Lowe drove by his estranged girlfriend’s residence and shot Ricky Lewis, her grandfather, who was outside in front of the home, the report said. Lowe fled the scene in a vehicle. Lewis was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Lowe showed up for a scheduled court appearance shortly after the shooting, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Police said Friday’s shooting apparently stemmed from a battery Lowe allegedly committed against his estranged girlfriend on May 28. Lowe is facing an additional charge of battery by strangulation which is a felony.
