PINELLAS COUNTY – As usual, there’s plenty to do around Pinellas this weekend, including the following in this week’s spotlight.

Out and About

- The seventh annual John Levique Pirate Days is June 6-18 at John's Pass Village at Madeira Beach. Celebrate the discovery of Johns Pass and get prepared for Hurricane Season. Three Pirate themed days of Free Family fun! Proceeds will benefit the Fisherman Lost at Sea Fund. Admission to the event is free.

- Meet the area’s top home improvement experts, Friday through Saturday, June 6-8, at Tropicana Field. The Home Expo feature nearly 500 exhibits for everything relating to your home and Hours are Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $3; children age 16 and under, free.

Music and Concerts

- Singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks brings her show to the Ford Amphitheatre on Sunday, June 8, 7:30 p.m.

- Suncoast Blues Society 11th Anniversary Show, featuring Darrell Nulisch and Charlie Morris Band, is Saturday, June 7, 8 p.m. at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa.

Stage and Theater

- Go, Diego, Go LIVE! The Great Jaguar Rescue is coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Tuesday, June 10, 6 p.m., and Wednesday, June 11, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

- American Stage Theatre Company’s production of Harold Pinter’s “Betrayal” runs through June 22 on the main stage, at 211 Third St. S., St. Petersburg.

Art and Museums

- An opening reception for an exhibit featuring Florida Conservation Photographers is set for Saturday, June 7, 1 to 3 p.m., at Weedon Island Preserve in St. Petersburg.

- Practical to Poetic: Women’s Handicraft Revisited, curated by Sangoyemi Ogunsanya, is on display through Saturday, Aug. 16, at The Arts Center, 719 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.

Entertainment calendar

TBN’s Online Entertainment Calendar has information about even more fun happening this weekend. Some of the highlights include:

- More than 40 talented Artisans, Crafters, Antiques Dealers, Authors and Entertainers sell their unique talents along Beach Boulevard in Gulfport on first Fridays. Enjoy a variety of music at the infamous "Gulf-Porch." View the stars through the telescope of SPAC's sidewalk astronomer, John Dobson. Free trolley rides. Pet Friendly.

- Flick and Float, June 6, 13 and 27. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts approximately 9 p.m. Southwest Pool, 13120 Vonn Road, Largo. Bring your favorite float or chair for a Friday night family movie. Concessions and free hot dogs will be available. Admission for a family of five is $5 with a resident recreation card and $6.25 with a nonresident card. Call 518-3126.

- Pepper Fest is coming to Sand Key Park, 1060 Gulf Blvd., Clearwater, on Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring hot and spicy food to sample and buy; pepper plants; crafts; a barbecue; and more. Admission and parking is free.

- Train Weekend, June 7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Largo Central Park, 101 Central Park Drive. Ride the miniature trains of Largo Central Railroad on the first full weekend every month at Largo Central Park.

- Relax and enjoy a Sunday afternoon piano concert with Rena Massey on Sunday, June 8, 3 p.m., at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 South Pinellas Ave.

- Artists Trading Cards, an exhibit featuring mixed media miniature works of art created on playing cards is on display at the Artists' Way Cooperative, 1403 Cleveland St., Clearwater. An opening reception is Sunday, June 8, 2 p.m.

Outdoors calendar

TBN’s online Outdoors News and Events Calendar includes information about a number of fun things for nature lovers and the sports-minded, including:

- The Kiwanis Club of Seminole Breakfast is hosting Family Fun Fishing Day on Saturday, June 7, 8 to 11 a.m., at Taylor Park, 1100 Eighth Ave. S.W., Largo. Families with small children are invited to participate. Admission is free. Fishing tackle and bait will be provided. Those wishing to do so may bring their own fishing tackle.

- Southwest Neighborhood’s Summer Kick Off, June 7, noon to 4 p.m. Southwest Pool, 13120 Vonn Road. The pool will be open to the public at no charge. A lunch and bottled water will be available, as will floats, inner tubes and diving boards for recreational use. Underwater exploration with Discover Scuba; ages 17 and younger require a parent signature.

- Guided Bird Walk, June 7, 7:30 a.m., at Largo Central Park Nature Preserve, 150 Highland Ave. S.E. Get a glimpse of Florida’s summer resident birds while enjoying a stroll in nature. Bring binoculars if you have them. Free.

- A skateboarding competition on Sunday, June 8, noon, at the Largo Skate Park gives beginner and intermediate skaters an opportunity to test their skills. Gulf Coast Skate Shop will sponsor prizes and giveaways. Participants must have a 2005 liability waiver prior to competition. Those under 18 must have a parent sign their waiver form and helmets are required. The cost is $7 and purchase of a daily wristband or skate pass is needed.
