Publix to purchase Albertson’s stores

LAKELAND - Publix Super Markets Inc. announced June 9 it has entered into an agreement to purchase 49 Florida stores from Albertson’s LLC.
The transaction is expected to close in September and includes store locations throughout the state.
“The demand for the high-quality service our associate owners provide gives us the opportunity to reinvest in these communities by acquiring additional sites for Publix stores,” said Ed Crenshaw, Publix CEO. “We continue to focus on being the premier food retailer in the areas in which we operate.”
Local stores in the agreement include:
- 2770 West Bay Drive, Belleair Bluffs
- 26583 U.S. 19 North, Clearwater
- 1921 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater
- 1295 S. Missouri Ave., Clearwater
- 3825 East Bay Drive, Largo
- 13031 Walsingham Road, Largo
- 35439 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor
- 4701 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park
- 7880 113th St., Seminole
- 1075 S. Pasadena Ave., South Pasadena
- 3700 Fourth St. North, St. Petersburg
- 3030 54th Ave. South, St. Petersburg
- 3900 66th St. North, St. Petersburg.
Grand opening dates for all locations will depend on the scope of the remodels.
Publix encourages impacted Albertson’s employees to apply for employment. To assist in this process, Publix will hold job fairs dedicated to Albertson’s employees in the upcoming weeks.
