LARGO – Mildred Fisher celebrates her 100th birthday on June 28.
More than 150 people are expected to attend a party from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Lakeview Largo Lakehouse, 14130 Rosemary Lane.
Fisher was born in Chicago and completed college at the age of 16, majoring in elementary education and history at the University of Illinois. She was a teacher in the Chicago Public Schools.
Fisher is still active with the League of Women Voters and plays golf each week.
Some of her tips to reach old age include maintaining calcium levels by avoiding carbonated beverages, eating raw spinach, eating unpeeled potatoes, taking vitamins and drinking red wine.
