Two people suffered serious injuries in a July 3 accident between a semi tractor-trailer loaded with lumber and a Mercury Grand Marquis at about 12:14 p.m. at 49th Street and 70th Avenue.
PINELLAS PARK – Two people were injured – one critically – in an accident between a semi tractor-trailer and Mercury Grand Marquis at 12:14 p.m. on July 3 at the intersection of 49th Street and 70th Avenue N. in Pinellas Park.

According to a report from the Pinellas Park police department, a 2007 Kenworth tractor truck, driven by Philip J Agostinacchio, 44, of Spring Hill, was traveling north on 49th Street when it hit a 1997 four-door Mercury Grand Marquis, driven by Charlotte L McClintock, 89, of Pinellas Park.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed that McClintock was attempting to make a left turn from southbound 49th Street onto eastbound 70th Avenue at the time of the accident.

After the initial impact, the semi truck left the roadway, struck a traffic light pole and a light pole before coming to rest inside the Black Mountain clothing store at 7031 49th St.

Both drivers were airlifted by Bayflight Helicopter. McClintock was reportedly in critical condition at Bayfront Hospital. Police said next of kin had been notified. Agostinacchio also was at Bayfront with non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Portions of the intersection remained closed throughout the afternoon into early evening as the investigation continued. Northbound traffic on 49th Street was being diverted at 68th Avenue North. Westbound 70th Avenue traffic was being diverted at 47th Street North.
