Pinellas County’s 911 system is operating is operational again, functioning on a backup system.
Pinellas County Communications announced about 11:30 a.m. Friday that due to the storm, 911 system was experiencing technical difficulties.
They announced about an hour later that the system was working again.
According to Tom Iovino, public information specialist, the problem was caused by an apparent lightning strike.
The non-emergency Sunstar ambulance phone number is out of service, according to an announcement released just after 1 p.m. Friday. Citizens should call 727-582-2090 for non-emergency ambulance service.
