CLEARWATER – Army Reserve Capt. Darius J. Hill is currently deployed at a forward operating base in Afghanistan to support the mission of Operation Enduring Freedom.
He is the son of Douglas E. and Rita L. Hill of Clearwater and a graduate of Clearwater High School and the University of South Florida. His wife, Sonja, is the daughter of Anthony Que and Wilma Que of Lakeland.
Enduring Freedom is the official name given to anti-terrorism military operations involving U.S. troops and allied coalition partners. Reserve component members from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces have been mobilized, activated and deployed along with active duty members to support the war against global terrorism.
Mission objectives encompass combating the international terrorist network or regime forces outside the borders of the United States. U.S. troops serve in South and Southwest Asia, Central Asia, the Arabian peninsula, islands in the Pacific and other countries.
Hill is a civil affairs team leader assigned to the Provincial Reconstruction Team. The reservist has served in the military for six years. In his civilian occupation, Hill has been a Pinellas County deputy sheriff for three years.
