PINELLAS COUNTY – To mark Take a Loved One for a Checkup Day, all five Pinellas County Health Department health centers are offering free health screening between 9 a.m. and noon on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
Health department officials say it’s important that people take charge of their health and go to the doctor before they get sick.
“Having regular medical check-ups can prevent big problems down the road,” Jeannine Mallory, public information officer with the county’s health department, said in a press release. “Now you can help a family member or friends do the same thing.”
Take a Love One for a Checkup Day gives people a chance to take friends and family members – or even themselves - to visit a local clinic or doctor to make sure they are in good health.
“Don’t wait for an emergency,” Mallory said. “Take your loved one for a check up on September 18.”
Health screenings available will include: Blood pressure, weight, vision and hearing tests; blood tests for: HIV, Sickle cell trait, diabetes and cholesterol; screening for colorectal cancer and prostate cancer; and vouchers for free breast exams.
