Counterfeit bills discovered in Treasure Island

TREASURE ISLAND Treasure Island police are warning merchants about countefeit $20 and $50 bills that have surfaced in the city recently.

The string of cases started Aug. 30 when a white male and female in their 30s, both with brown hair, passed a counterfeit $50 bill.

About three weeks later, a bald black male in his 30s and a Hispanic female with long brown hair in her 20s passed a pair of counterfeit $20 bills with the same serial number. The suspects were driving a Chevrolet Impala.

Five days later, on Sept. 26, a white male with a white beard and a white female missing a front tooth, both in their 60s, passed two counterfeit $20 bills.
