State opens volunteer hotline
Article published on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2005
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Volunteer and Donation Hotline, (800) 354-3571 is active at the Emergency Operations Center.

The mission of the hotline is to provide the public with information about how to get connected with voluntary organizations in support of disaster response and recovery efforts, and to provide information about financial and in-kind donations needed during times of disaster.

The hotline will operate from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days per week until further notice.

For more information about volunteer opportunities, please visit volunteerflorida.org.

Notice to volunteers

Conditions on the ground were still being assessed in many areas over the weekend and are potentially hazardous. Volunteers who are neither trained nor deployed by an experienced disaster relief agency should avoid entering the impacted areas until notified that it is safe to do so.

If you are affiliated with an experienced disaster relief agency, such as the American Red Cross or The Salvation Army, please contact them to offer your assistance.
