LARGO – Calling all chocolate lovers; it’s that time of year again.
The Rotary Club of Largo’s annual fundraiser, Death by Chocolate, will be Friday, Dec. 5, 7 to 9 p.m., at the Largo Cultural Center.
More than 25 local businesses and restaurants, including candy and pastry shops, will be offering chocolates of all kinds to more than 1,000 attendees, according to the Rotary Club.
A silent auction, door prizes and entertainment also will be featured. The event raises more than $25,000 annually for local programs. This year marks the 13th year of Death by Chocolate.
“It is the absolute best way to get into the spirit of the holidays,” said Woody Brown, a member of the Rotary Club’s board of directors, in an e-mail. “Eating wonderful desserts, drinking some champagne and enjoying the company and business associates all while raising a lot of money for kids. Afterward, you can walk off the calories and enjoy the lights in Central Park.”
Businesses to date that will provide chocolates or beverages at the event are Village Inn, Bev 2 Go, Stuffed Mushroom, Tastefully Simple, Coldstone Creamery, McGill Plumbing (supplying water), The Coffee Mill, Grillmarks, Celebration Cakes, Largo Summer Camps, Belleair Grill (formally Peppermill), Oak Manor, E & E Stakeout, PRP International Wine, Cherubs, The Largo Community Center, Callahan Water, Mellita Coffee, Hampton Inn-Bay Star Hotel Group, Comey and Main Street Chiropractic and JKFLowers.
Key sponsors are Aegon, Tampa Bay Newspapers and the Palms of Largo.
