Crist plans inauguration events

TALLAHASSEE-Governor-Elect Charlie Crist and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Jeff Kottkamp announced on Wednesday the release of the 2007 Florida Inaugural Web site, www.charliecrist.com, which has a detailed schedule of events as well as hotel and ticket information for inaugural festivities.

The 2007 Florida Inaugural Team has planned an extensive statewide festival entitled "Celebrating the People of Florida." The schedule includes events around the state and tickets can be obtained online.

All proceeds from funds raised by the Inaugural Committee, after costs are covered, will be distributed to the Derrick Brooks Charities, the Jessica Marie Lunsford Foundation and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

The schedule of 2007 Florida Inaugural Events is as follows:

Wednesday, Dec. 13

Inaugural Breakfast
8:30 to 10 a.m., Biltmore Hotel, Coral Gables, free ticketed event, two per person.

Sunday, Dec. 17

Inaugural "Kick-Off" Barbecue
1 to 2:30 p.m., Legends Field, Tampa, free event, no tickets required.

Tuesday Jan. 2, 2007

The 2007 Florida Inaugural Prayer Breakfast
7:30 to 9 a.m., Florida A&M University, Gaither Gymnasium, Tallahassee, free ticketed event, two per person.

Official Swearing in Ceremony
10:30 a.m., The Old Capitol, East Portico, Tallahassee, free ticketed event, two per person.

2007 Florida Inaugural Parade
1:30 p.m., Tallahassee, free event, no tickets required.

The Governor's Mansion "The People's House" Tour and Street Festival
The Governor's Mansion. 700 North Adams St., Tallahassee, 2:30 to 5 p.m., free event, no tickets required.

2007 Florida Ball and Concert
The Tallahassee Leon County Civic Center, 505 West Pensacola St., Tallahassee, 7 to 11 p.m., ticketed event, $100 a person, limit 2.

In other news, Crist announced Citizen Review Group team leaders on Wednesday. Among the names is former Pinellas County Sheriff Jim Coats, who will serve as leader of the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles team.

The teams will conduct a thorough review of each state agency and provide a report to Governor-Elect Crist and Lieutenant Governor-Elect Kottkamp during the next few weeks. Among the information gathered will be: administrative policy, legislative priorities, budget and funding priorities, organizational issues and federal law and policies. The end goal is to ensure that each state agency is performing with the utmost effectiveness and efficiency.

All members of the Citizen Review Groups are volunteers from the public and private sectors. In addition to members of the Crist Transition Team, Citizen Review Group members will sign the Transition Code of Ethical Conduct.
