CLEARWATER – Each third Saturday of the month, the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., will offer the Doggone Reading Fun program that pairs pooches with children who have difficulty reading aloud in the presence of other people.
The program is a partnership with Paws for Friendship, which is an organization that provides service dogs for schools, hospitals, libraries and other institutions. Children who are reluctant readers can gain confidence reading aloud to the trained canines that provide a non-judgmental audience. Parents can sign their children up online for 20-minute sessions to practice reading to one of three animals available. The program is free.
