LARGO – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay seeks dedicated animal lovers to volunteer on behalf of its furry, four-legged residents.
Adoption counselor volunteers work with pets by exercising and training dogs, cats and rabbits. Dog handlers are required to participate in serious and intensive dog-training courses that focus on basic canine obedience.
Counselors also will assist potential adopters with pet selection. Other rewarding volunteer opportunities at the SPCA include in-office help, assistance with bulk mailings, fundraising support, education assistance and special event coordination.
Junior volunteers, aged 14 to 18, are welcome, too.
Children must be accompanied by a supervising adult who also agrees to volunteer.
