Sam’s Club, Walmart blood drives
Select Sam’s Clubs and Walmart stores are serving the community by hosting summer blood drives where donors can give life by donating blood and enjoy a $10 Walmart gift card.

The blood drives will take place Friday, June 23, 2 to 7 p.m.; and Sunday through Tuesday, June 25-27, 1 to 7 p.m., at select Sam’s Club and Walmart stores. For locations and appointments, visit oneblood.org /walmart or call 888-936-6283. Appointments will be honored and walk-ins are welcome.

All donors also will receive a wellness check-up of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron count, including a cholesterol screening. Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Photo ID is required. To learn more about the importance of blood donation and how donors can target the power of their blood type, visit oneblood.org.

Hooters blood drives
Select Hooters restaurants will host blood drives on Saturday, June 24, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donors can share their power to save lives by giving blood and enjoy 10 free boneless wings from Hooters, a OneBlood T-shirt and two free Tampa Bay Storm tickets.

Largo Central Park Nature Preserve cleanup
LARGO – The city of Largo will host an invasive and exotic plant cleanup Saturday, June 24, 9 a.m. to noon, in the Largo Central Park Nature Preserve, 150 Highland Ave. SE, Largo.

Volunteers will help in the removal of the Brazilian pepper that has invaded the park. Refreshments will be provided throughout the cleanup and volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves and any garden tools they wish. A limited number of tools will be provided.

United Ostomy Associations of America meeting
ST. PETERSBURG – The United Ostomy Associations of America affiliated support group of St. Petersburg will meet Sunday, June 25, 2 p.m., in the auditorium at St. Anthony’s Hospital, 1200 Seventh Ave. N., St. Petersburg.

All ostomates, new or experienced, are welcome to attend. The group offers support to persons facing ostomy surgery as well as persons with ostomies and their family and friends.

LARGO – Author Penny Musco will share intriguing facts about national parks that she discovered while writing her book, “Life Lessons from the National Parks: Meeting God in America’s Most Glorious Places,” on Monday, June 26, 6:30 p.m., at the Largo Public Library.

In the hour-long presentation, titled Fascinating Stories from our National Parks, Musco will discuss little-known historical facts about the parks, including several in Florida.

Tai Chi and Qigong classes
ST. PETE BEACH – Tai Chi and Qigong classes are presented Mondays, 11 a.m.; and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m., at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, St. Pete Beach.

This class is designed to reduce stress, inflammation and disease associated with stress, as well as improve postural alignment and flexibility.
