MADEIRA BEACH – English for students of other languages is being offered by Pinellas County School Monday through Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Madeira Beach Fundamental School, 591 Tom Stuart Causeway. Cost is $30 a semester.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn and to practice English with a teacher, with computers and with other learners.

Pinellas Park Orchestra fall practice
PINELLAS PARK – The 2016 fall season Pinellas Park Orchestra practice has begun. The orchestra practices Mondays, 7 to 9 p.m., in the Pinellas Park Performing Arts Center, 4951 78th Ave. N., Pinellas Park. 

Robert Boyd will serve as conductor for the Oct. 2 concert. Art Hansuld will return for the balance of the fall season in October. All strings are welcome.

Speakeasy Toastmasters meeting
PINELLAS PARK – Speakeasy Toastmasters meets Mondays, 6:15 to 7:30 p.m., at K Hibachi Buffet, 7610 49th St. N. in Pinellas Park.

Designed for those who have trouble speaking in public. Toastmasters is an organization that helps participants learn to calm their nerves and be the most confident presenter possible.

Walmart stores blood drive
Select Walmart stores will host blood drives Sunday and Monday, Sept. 26 and 27.

Donors can share the power to save lives by giving blood and enjoy a $10 Walmart gift card. For locations and appointments, visit oneblood.org /walmart or call 888-936-6283. Appointments will be honored and walk-ins will be welcomed.

All donors also will receive a wellness check-up of blood pressure, pulse, temperature and iron count, including a cholesterol screening.

Generally healthy people age 16 or older who weigh at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Photo ID is required. To learn more about the importance of blood donation and how donors can target the power of their blood type, visit oneblood.org.

Alzheimer’s support group
LARGO – Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Ruth’s Promise Adult day program are sponsoring a Practical Grace in Alzheimer’s support group, meeting fourth Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m., in the Prince of Peace Chapel, 455 Missouri Ave.

The group will next meet Tuesday, April 26.

Practical Grace in Alzheimer’s Care is a support system designed by Dr. Cate McCarty, dementia coach, to close the gap between maintaining meaningful faith membership while navigating Alzheimer’s and related dementias. As a follow-up to the recent Practical Grace seminar at Prince of Peace, Ruth’s Promise has expanded their ministry to offer this support group to Alzheimer’s caregivers.

The adult day program is available for respite during the meeting provided caregivers.

Girl Scout workshop
LARGO – A Girl Scout workshop will be presented Tuesday, Sept. 27, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N., Largo.

Cost is $15. The workshop includes handouts, a craft, a snack, an exclusive SPCA logo patch and the opportunity to give shelter animals’ purrs and wags along the way. Call 727-586-3594.

Daisy and Brownie Scouts earn requirements toward a Pet Badge or 3 Cheers for Animals Awards, and an exclusive SPCA Tampa Bay logo patch, at this interactive, animal-themed workshop.

Scouts will learn about respecting animal’s feelings and the basics of safety around animals, including the proper way to greet a dog and how paying attention to animal body language can keep you safe. Scouts also will learn how the SPCA helps animals and pet owners in the community, and have a tour of the adoption floor.

Honor Flight presentation
SEMINOLE – A presentation to educate veterans about the Honor Flight program will take place Tuesday, Sept. 27, noon, at Lake Seminole Square, 8333 Seminole Blvd.

The mission of Honor Flight is to transport veterans, free of charge, to Washington D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices.

Guest speaker Patti Von Hollar will present on the topic.
