Beaches chamber tourism lunch
ST. PETE BEACH – Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce will host its seventh annual tourism lunch on Thursday, May 7, at the TradeWinds Island Grand Resort, 5500 Gulf Blvd.

The 2015 cutting-edge theme, “culinary tourism,” will explore the recent rise and pursuit of Tampa Bay as a gastronomic destination. Tastings offered throughout the lunch will emphasize a “fresh from Florida” theme, which has drawn an astounding, selective niche to the area.

Caregiver Coffee Hour
SEMINOLE – The Alzheimer’s Association, Florida Gulf Coast Chapter’s Caregiver Coffee Hour meets first Thursdays, 3 to 4:30 p.m., at Maria’s Adult Day Care Center, 7821 Seminole Blvd. in Seminole.

The Caregiver Coffee Hour is an educational, emotional and social support program for family caregivers. Caregivers meet in a comfortable and confidential setting to chat with peers about issues pertinent to their dementia journey.

A Heidi Crockett, licensed clinical social worker with Aging Care Advocates, and volunteer support group facilitator with the Alzheimer’s Association facilitates the program.

Happy Tails
PALM HARBOR – Home Port Marina will present the fifth annual Happy Tails mix and mingle event Thursday, May 7, 6 to 9 p.m., at Ozona Blue Grilling Company, 125 Orange St.

Oil painting classes
INDIAN SHORES – Oil painting classes are held Thursdays, 1 to 3:30 p.m., at the Indian Shores Municipal Building, 19305 Gulf Blvd.

Classes are for both beginners and the more experienced intermediate artists. New students begin with basic fundamentals and move toward working independently from their own photographs or subject matter. Class time consists of a demo, an instructional time, painting time, and  critique time. Instructor Betsy Schoepf works with each student individually.

Students will learn about paints, brushes, color mixing, composition, and all of the basics needed to form a foundation in traditional oil painting.  Individual creativity is emphasized.

PCHA workshop for landlords
LARGO – The Pinellas County Housing Authority will host a free workshop to introduce prospective landlords to the Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program on Thursday, May 7, 3 to 5 p.m., at 11479 Ulmerton Road in Largo.

Landlords will learn: How participation in the program can benefit property owners; Owner and tenant responsibilities; Unit requirements; and How to participate.

Landlords also are needed to provide housing to veterans through the housing authority’s HUD Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing program. HUD-VASH participants may rent anywhere within Pinellas County. The housing authority also is seeking landlords who have handicap accessible rentals.

The Pinellas County Housing Authority’s areas of operation for the program include all unincorporated areas of Pinellas County and the following cities: Largo, Oldsmar, Tarpon Springs, Dunedin, Gulfport, Kenneth City, Belleair, Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park, Safety Harbor and Seminole.
