FootGolf Tournament
LARGO – Piper Fire Protection will be hosting its third annual FootGolf Tournament on Friday, March 24, at Largo Municipal Golf Course, 12500 Vonn Road. The event will benefit the Children’s Burn Foundation of Florida through the Florida Fire Equipment Dealers Association.

“Our annual FootGolf Tournament produces thousands of dollars in donations every year,” said Chris Johnson, president of Piper Fire Protection. “The event is helping raise money to benefit the Children’s Burn Foundation, which provides support for child burn survivors, who have suffered burn-related injuries. Piper is proud to be part of the fight to give these children their lives back and their dreams of a better tomorrow.”

Registration begins at 5 p.m. with a shotgun start at 6 p.m.

Cost, including play and awards dinner, is $30 for a single golfer, $20 for children and $25 each for groups of four or more. The event also will feature live entertainment, signature beverages with a Piper Fire souvenir cup, awards for top teams, prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin and a 50/50 raffle.

A FootGolf costume contest also will be held, so participants are urged to dress in their finest argyle socks and cap (no cleats allowed). Please bring a soccer ball if possible.

ST. PETERSBURG – A senior investment club conducts discussions every Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sunshine Center, 330 Fifth St. N.

Bluffs Wine Walk
BELLEAIR BLUFFS – The Bluffs Business Association will host the Bluffs Wine Walk on Saturday, March 25, 4 to 8 p.m.

Guests will pay $20 in advance or $25 day of event for the opportunity to sample wine and appetizers and shop at over 40 businesses in the Belleair Bluffs community.

Guests will check in at one of three sponsor locations: Belleair Market at 510 Indian Rocks Road, Creative Design Team at 321 Indian Rocks Road or Radiance Medspa at 2894 West Bay Drive.

They will receive a souvenir wine glass, 25 wine tasting tickets, a wristband and a map showcasing all of the wine walk stops. The Jolley Trolley will shuttle guests to participating merchants on Indian Rocks Road between West Bay Drive and Mehlenbacher Road and on West Bay Drive from Indian Rocks Road to Sunset Boulevard.

Free parking is available at several locations throughout Belleair Bluffs. Wine Walk tickets are only available for purchase in advance online at BluffsBusinessAssociation.com. Tickets may be purchased the day of the event with a credit card (no cash) at the check-in locations.

The mission of the Bluffs Business Association is to help businesses connect with the community and each other through involvement in local events, business to business networking opportunities and cooperative advertising programs.

Florida West Coast Orchid Society re-potting event
LARGO – Florida West Coast Orchid Society will host a re-potting event Saturday, March 25, 9 a.m. to noon, in the tropical pavilion in the East Gardens of the Florida Botanical Gardens, 12211 Walsingham Road, Largo.

FWCOS members will re-pot orchids and provide attendees with information on orchid culture. A reasonable fee is charged to cover the cost of the supplies for the repotting the orchids. All proceeds go to FWCOS.

Gluten-free for Life Expo
ST. PETERSBURG – The Gluten-free in Florida Support Group will present the sixth annual Gluten-free for Life Expo on Saturday, March 25, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the St. Petersburg Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N., St. Petersburg.

This yearly event is designed to promote awareness of celiac disease and gluten intolerance.

Fundraising will benefit Camp Weekaneatit, a weeklong kids’ summer camp for gluten intolerant and celiac kids. Additionally, gluten-free nonperishable food donations will be accepted to restock the gluten-free emergency food pantry at Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa.

Speakers this year will include Dr. Patrick Staropoli (Beyond Celiac), Laura Huffman (Vivian’s Live Again) and Dr. Christopher Hood (Hood Chiropractic) along with three other local professionals who will be offering classroom teachings. Attendees will be able to sample or purchase gluten-free products and services from over 60 local and national vendors.

Seminole Stampede
SEMINOLE – The Seminole Chamber of Commerce presents its annual Seminole Stampede 5K Run and 1-mile Silly Sock Fun Run Saturday, March 25, 8 a.m., at Walsingham Park, 12620 102nd Ave.

A portion of proceeds will benefit the Fisher House at Bay Pines VA Hospital.

Spring Car & Truck Show
LARGO – Largo High School’s ExCEL Booster Spring Car & Truck Show will be held at Largo High School, 410 Missouri Ave., from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25.

All of the proceeds go to the ExCEL Boosters, which provides support to all ExCEL Magnet Program activities.

Trophies for Top 50 and a Best of Show also will be awarded. WKID 96.7 FM will be live on location playing music and the event also will feature a swap meet, door prizes, a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and food and drinks available for purchase.

STEM training for teen girls
LARGO – The third in a series of events for teen girls interested in the STEM program and leadership skills training will be held Saturdays, Feb. 18 and March 25, 2-3:30 p.m., at the Largo Library, 120 Central Park Drive.

Emma Alaba, director and organizer of the 2017 U.S. RoboFest; Williemae Dixon, director of A Will & Way, Inc.; and Roshanne Redmond, a publisher and entrepreneur, will host this opportunity for girls ages 10-17.

Opportunities also are available to participate in the 2017 U.S. RoboFest Competition, which will be held in St. Petersburg in June.
