Good Samaritan Lent experiment
PINELLAS PARK – Good Samaritan Church, 6085 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, will observe Lent this year with a seven-week experiment.

Each week participants go to the church for prayer and discussion, looking at Jesus’ teachings. Each person will choose one seven-day faith experiment, putting one of these teachings into practice. The following week they return to share what was learned and experienced.

There are two opportunities to participate: Wednesdays, 6 p.m., Feb. 18 through April 1; or Thursdays, 10 a.m., Feb. 19 through April 2.

It is not necessary to attend Good Samaritan to participate in this unusual experience. Those interested in giving this spiritual experiment a try should call 544-8558 for additional information and to register.

Learn @ Lunch
CLEARWATER – The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce will host a Learn @ Lunch event on Thursday, March 26, at the Hyatt Regency, 301 S Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater Beach.

Guest speaker Kadi Tubbs will present Getting Your Business to the Media. Check-in will begin at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at noon.

Lunch & Learn
CLEARWATER – Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn on Thursday, March 26, noon to 1:30 p.m., at the Clearwater Community Sailing Center, 1001 Gulf Blvd., Clearwater.

The event is open to everyone. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn how Pinellas County Justice and Consumer Services can help in consumer-business disputes and mediation. Other topics to be covered include violation of consumer protection laws and outreach efforts to support local businesses.

The guest speaker will be Anna Marie Millett. Millet is a consumer fraud investigator and a certified mediator through the Supreme Court of Florida.

Lunch-and-learn session
LARGO – A lunch and learn session will be presented Thursday, March 26, noon to 1:30 p.m., at Life Solutions Center at Diagnostic Clinic, fourth floor lounge, 1301 Second Ave. SW.

Discover Interventional Pain Relief and Spine Care will be presented by Dr. Carl Tandatnick, a board certified physician in interventional pain medicine and anesthesiology. Tandatnick has been working at the Diagnostic Clinic since 2001. His practice focuses on interventional spine care and offers a wide variety of procedures for neck and back pain, arm and leg pain, herniated discs and hip joint pain.

Tandatnick will present an overview of a few interventional therapy techniques to relieve pain such as cervical epidural steroid injections, lumbar and sacral transforaminal injections, caudal epidural injections, select nerve root injections in lumbar and sacral spine, and diagnostic nerve blocks.

Ombudsman local council meeting
LARGO – The local council of Florida’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program needs volunteers to join its corps of dedicated advocates who protect the rights of elders residing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult family care homes.

The local council is seeking additional volunteers to identify, investigate and resolve residents’ concerns. Special training and certification is provided.

All interested individuals who care about protecting the health, safety, welfare and rights of long-term care facility residents – who often have no one else to advocate for them – are encouraged to call 888-831-0404 or visit the program’s website at ombudsman.myflorida.com.

The local council meets to discuss the program’s current activities and give the public a chance to provide comments about long-term care facility issues on the fourth Thursdays at the Mary Grizzle Building, 11351 Ulmerton Road, Room 136, in Largo. The open session of these meetings begins at 1 p.m.

Concerned citizens and those interested in volunteering are welcome to attend.

Seminole Junior Woman’s Club meeting
SEMINOLE – The GFWC Seminole Junior Woman’s Club meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month at the Holland G. Mangum Recreation Complex, 9100 113th St. N.

The group is dedicated to serving the community, particularly through programs helping children. Club activities include providing dinner to families at the Ronald McDonald House in St. Petersburg; and the SJWC’s annual “Share Our Spirit” food drive, which helps feed Seminole children during the winter holiday break.
