Golden Paw Awards Dinner and Trivia Gala
CLEARWATER – The annual Golden Paw Awards Dinner and Trivia Gala will be presented Thursday, Oct. 8, 6 to 9 p.m., at Sheraton Sand Key Resort, 1160 Gulf Blvd.

The gala will feature entertainment and an auction. Golden Paw Awards will be presented to a volunteer, youth volunteer and community winners.

Belleair Bluffs Business Association after-hours mingle
BELLEAIR BLUFFS – The Belleair Bluffs Business Association after-hours mingle will be Thursday, Oct. 8, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Cody’s Original Roadhouse corporate office, 2530 West Bay Drive.

The meeting will take place in the corporate office, not in the restaurant.

There will be refreshments and door prizes. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet new business contacts.

Any business, regardless of location, is welcome to attend and bring a guest. The mission of the Bluffs Business Association is to promote and improve the business environment and stimulate a vibrant local economy in the Belleair, Belleair Bluffs and Largo communities.

Birds in Your Florida Garden
PALM HARBOR – Birds in Your Florida Garden will be presented Thursday, Oct. 8, 2 and 6:15 p.m., at the Palm Harbor Library, 2330 Nebraska Ave. Registration is required by Wednesday, Oct. 7. Admission is free, but space is limited.

Flip Flop Fling
ST. PETE BEACH – The Tampa Bay Beaches Chamber of Commerce plans its annual Flip Flop Fling Thursday, Oct. 8, 5:30 p.m., at the Dolphin Beach Resort, 4900 Gulf Blvd.

Oil painting classes
INDIAN SHORES – Oil painting classes are held Thursdays, 1 to 3:30 p.m., at the Indian Shores Municipal Building, 19305 Gulf Blvd.

Classes are for both beginners and the more experienced intermediate artists. New students begin with basic fundamentals and move toward working independently from their own photographs or subject matter. Class time consists of a demo, an instructional time, painting time, and  critique time. Instructor Betsy Schoepf works with each student individually.

Students will learn about paints, brushes, color mixing, composition, and all of the basics needed to form a foundation in traditional oil painting.  Individual creativity is emphasized.
