Clearwater Beach Taste Fest
CLEARWATER – The seventh annual Clearwater Beach Taste Fest will be Friday, May 6, 6 to 9 p.m., on Clearwater Beach at Beach Walk and South Gulfview Boulevard.

The annual event will include the opportunity to enjoy fine wines, craft beers and scrumptious foods from more than 30 restaurants whose chefs will be showcasing signature dishes and specialties. Morton Plant Mease Health Foundation has been selected as the beneficiary this year.

Live entertainment will be provided by contemporary jazz artist Eric Darius. Activities will include raffle baskets, chef auctions as well as a fireworks display to close the evening.

Clearwater Police Officer Memorial Service
CLEARWATER – The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 10 and the Clearwater Police Department will host the 35th annual Clearwater Police Officer Memorial Service Friday, May 6, 10 a.m., at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St. in downtown Clearwater.

The service will honor those who have given their lives in the service of the city. The keynote speaker will be Lorraine Yaslowitz Marino, widow of fallen St. Petersburg Police K9 Officer Jeffery Yaslowitz. Also speaking will be President Jonathan Walser and Chaplain Brian Rogers, both of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 10.

Immediately following the memorial service, refreshments will be served at the Clearwater Police Department, 645 Pierce St. in Clearwater.

Crafts for veterans
PINELLAS PARK – The Pinellas Park Senior Center, 7625 59th St. N., will offer a weekly craft workshop for veterans on Fridays, 1 to 4 p.m.

Projects, which are donated by the Help Hospitalized Veterans Program, include model cars, wood projects, leatherwork, needlecrafts, poster art, beadwork and more.

The crafts aid in rehabilitation, and are designed to restore coordination and impaired motor skills, improve attention spans and concentration, and relieve symptoms of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and other conditions.

First Friday
TARPON SPRINGS – The next First Friday, hosted by the Tarpon Springs Merchants Association, will be Friday, May 6, 6 to 10 p.m., in downtown Tarpon Springs.

Each month, First Fridays will be a different theme. First Fridays will include music, food, vendors, beer and wine.

The ongoing event in Tarpon Springs is scheduled through November. The city will close Tarpon Avenue from Pinellas Avenue to Ring Avenue for each of the events.

Booth space for merchant members is free. If you require electric, the fee would be $15.

Golf Tournament Weekend
LARGO – Tee up for a good cause this May for PARC’s 42nd annual Golf Tournament Weekend presented by Raymond James. The tournament kicks off Friday, May 6, 7 p.m., with a Friday Night Party at the Bayou Club in Largo.

This year, the party is Kentucky Derby themed, and includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, dancing, live “horse” races, silent and live auction and more. Guests are encouraged to wear their best Derby hat for a prize. Tickets for this event are $100 a person.

On Saturday, check-in starts at 11:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Afterward, there will be an awards dinner and other festivities. Various levels of sponsorship are still available.

Sponsors for the event include Raymond James Financial, Wallace, Welch & Willingham and Detweiler’s Propane Gas Service.

GriefShare group meeting
ST. PETERSBURG – A GriefShare group will meet Fridays, 10 a.m. to noon, beginning May 6, at Cornerstone Community Church, 6745 38th Ave. N. The group will meet from May 6 through July 29. Safety Harbor Resort and Spa 90th anniversary celebration
SAFETY HARBOR – The Safety Harbor Resort and Spa will celebrate its 90th anniversary Friday, May 6, 8 to 10 p.m., at 105 N. Bayshore Drive. The event will feature live music and libations. The celebration is open to the public.

From May 9-31, the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa will offer specials throughout the Resort and Spa and a Grand Anniversary Brunch will be served on Sunday, May 29, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., during Memorial Day Weekend.

Senior investment club
ST. PETERSBURG – A senior investment club conducts discussions every Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sunshine Center, 330 Fifth St. N.
