Seminole Historical Society Spirit Night
SEMINOLE – Chick-fil-A, 10790 Park Blvd., will hold a Seminole Historical Society Spirit Night Thursday, Sept. 29, 5 to 8 p.m. Fifteen percent of ticketed sales will be donated to the organization.

Those attending must present a flyer to the cashier at the counter or drive-thru. Flyers can be obtained through tSeminole Chamber of Commerce, 7777 131st St. N., Suites 7-8, or by contacting the chamber at 727-392-3245.

They can also be obtained through the historical society. The Seminole Historical Society Museum is located in Seminole City park, 7464 Ridge Rd., and is open Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

South Pasadena Community Band rehearsal
SOUTH PASADENA – The South Pasadena Community Band, a concert band, is seeking additional musicians of all ages and all instruments. Candidates must be capable of reading music and having at least average musical skills. The band rehearses on Thursdays, 7 to 9 p.m., in the South Pasadena City Hall, at 747 Sunset Drive.

The band has 28 rehearsals and 7 concerts scheduled. Be a part of the community and put your musicianship skills to use.

Tai Chi and Qigong classes
ST. PETE BEACH – Tai Chi and Qigong classes are presented Mondays, 11 a.m.; and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m., at the St. Pete Beach Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive, St. Pete Beach.

This class is designed to reduce stress, inflammation and disease associated with stress, as well as improve postural alignment and flexibility. The class combines specific movements, coordinated breathing and a calm focused mind used in traditional Chinese medicine, Tai Chi and Qigong practices that will improve health, vitality and longevity.

Tree pruning techniques workshop
SAFETY HARBOR – City of Safety Harbor Arborist Art Finn will present tree pruning techniques at a workshop at 6 p.m. on Sept. 29 at Safety Harbor Library.

Safety Harbor is home to a variety of trees from palms and crape myrtles to beautiful old shade trees, which all require special care to insure they stay healthy, thriving trees. Art will answer questions regarding the proper care and treatment of trees. A walking tour will follow the presentation to showcase some of the more interesting trees that call Safety Harbor home.

Water arthritis classes
PINELLAS PARK – Water arthritis classes are offered at Skyview Pool, 9040 54th Way N., Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:40 to 9:40 a.m. Cost is $2.50 per person.

Doing arthritis exercises in the water provides added resistance for a great workout. Classes will focus on gentle stretching, balance and movements. Swimming not required. Exercises done in shallow waters. Call 369-5694 for more information.

Crafts for veterans
PINELLAS PARK – The Pinellas Park Senior Center, 7625 59th St. N., will offer a weekly craft workshop for veterans on Fridays, 1 to 4 p.m.

Projects, which are donated by the Help Hospitalized Veterans Program, include model cars, wood projects, leatherwork, needlecrafts, poster art, beadwork and more.

The crafts aid in rehabilitation, and are designed to restore coordination and impaired motor skills, improve attention spans and concentration, and relieve symptoms of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and other conditions.

Green benches commemoration
ST. PETERSBURG – The 100th anniversary of St. Petersburg’s world famous green benches will be commemorated Friday, Sept. 30, 2-3 p.m., at The Fountains at Boca Ciega Bay, 1255 Pasadena Ave. S.

In honor of the event, former mayor Rick Baker will talk about the long history of the slatted seating.

The festivities will include entertainment by Big City Music.

Prayer breakfast
TARPON SPRINGS – The Shepherd Center will host the fourth annual prayer breakfast Friday, Sept. 30, 7:30 to 9 a.m., at Spanos-Pappas Community Center, in Theofilos Hall, 348 N. Pinellas Ave., Tarpon Springs.

This is an opportunity to gather together in prayer and unite neighbors, raise awareness, and challenge the community to action. Attendance at this event has exceeded 200 guests for the past two years. Once again North Pinellas County community leaders, state and local politicians, city commissioners, elected officials, clergy and concerned citizens are invited to attend.

The breakfast will be buffet style and the program will begin promptly at 8 a.m. The cost to attend is $25 per person, $200 for a table of eight and sponsorships ranging from $100 to $5,000 are available. For information on becoming a sponsor, call Darlene Parker at 727-940-5357.

The Shepherd Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, which has been providing services to the community for more than 40 years.
