Garden Club of St. Petersburg annual Plant Sale
ST. PETERSBURG – The Garden Club of St. Petersburg will host its annual Plant Sale Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 500 Sunset Drive S., St. Petersburg.

The sale will feature plants, used garden tools, yard art, pots and local honey products (Saturday only). Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Plant experts will be on hand to answer questions. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the club’s community projects.

Halloween Spooktacular and Fall Festival
TREASURE ISLAND – The annual children’s Halloween Spooktacular and Fall Festival will be held Friday, Oct. 28, 6 to 9 p.m. at Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis, 10315 Paradise Blvd.

Judging for the costume contest will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the 2-year-old and under group.

In addition to the costumer contest, activities are scheduled to include carnival games, moonwalks, spider mountain, bungee run, music, interactive games and entertainers, food and beverage concessions, a haunted hayride and spooky cemetery.

The haunted cemetery will be open 7 to 9 p.m. both Friday, Oct. 28, and Saturday, Oct. 29.

Heissler Organ Concert Series
ST. PETERSBURG – The Heissler Organ Concert Series will present Faythe Freese on Friday, Oct. 28, 7:30 p.m., at St. Petersburg College/Gibbs Campus Music Center, located at 6605 Fifth Ave. N., St. Petersburg.

Admission is $10 general admission for adults. Admission is free for students and SPC staff. Valid identification is required.

Freese, organ professor at the University of Alabama, returns for a second performance on St. Petersburg College’s Heissler Organ series.

Safety Harbor Elementary centennial celebration
SAFETY HARBOR – Safety Harbor Elementary School will host its Centennial Celebration and Annual Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 28, at 535 Fifth Ave. N., Safety Harbor.

A special program will honor Safety Harbor alumni, staff and students at 4 p.m. The school will also host a Fall Festival from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The event will celebrate the school’s 100 years of excellence and service to the Safety Harbor community.

Senior investment club
ST. PETERSBURG – A senior investment club conducts discussions every Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sunshine Center, 330 Fifth St. N.

The free club is open to the public and will feature discussions on anything related to investing. Share your best picks or your worst picks. Ask questions, give your opinion. It’s all about education and fun.

Charity whisky tasting
DUNEDIN– The Scottish American Society will host a charity whisky tasting Saturday, Oct. 29, 6:30 p.m., at Scottish Hall, 917 Louden Ave.

The event will offer the opportunity to sample award-winning whiskies from Scotland’s Islands, Speyside and Islay regions. The evening will include a presentation by certified sommelier Kyle Corman.

Tickets are $45 per person and $10 for non-drinking guests. Light snacks will be included.

A raffle and silent auction will held and door prizes will be awarded.

Proceeds support community youth programs of the Scottish American Society.

The event is open to the public, but reservations are required and must be made before Friday, Oct. 7.

Community food drive
SEMINOLE – A community food drive will take place Saturday, Oct. 29, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Oakhurst United Methodist Church, 13400 Park Blvd., Seminole.

This food drive will benefit the Interfaith Food Pantry on Starkey Road. Some suggested items for donation are canned meats and stews, cereal, pasta and pasta sauce, peanut butter and jelly, rice, puddings, Jello, soups, canned tuna, Chef Boyardee varieties and Hamburger Helper.

The number of individuals and families served increases each month and the food pantry is in desperate need of donations.
