Tarpon Springs Fiction Writers

Tea with Terry

Aquatic fitness classes
ST. PETE BEACH – The St. Pete Beach Recreation Department is again offering aquatic fitness classes on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, June 10 to Sept. 22, from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. at the St. Pete Beach Aquatic Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive.

The cost is $5 for St. Pete Beach residents and $6 for nonresidents. Silver Sneakers members are welcome. Aquatic fitness provides muscle toning and a cardio workout with the benefits and support of the water.

Boating Skills and Seamanship
DUNEDIN – A “Boating Skills and Seamanship” class conducted by the Dunedin flotilla of the Coast Guard Auxiliary begins July 20 and consists of five two-hour sessions.

Classes are held at the Coast Guard Auxiliary classroom at the Dunedin Marina, 51 Main St. Class times are 7-9 p.m. on weeknights and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Subsequent sessions will be held July 22, 25, 27, and 29.

The class, which is taught twice a year, is designed for both novice and experienced boaters. Basic seamanship topics to be covered include boating emergencies, navigation, safe boat operation and legal requirements.

To receive instructional materials before the beginning of class, register by July 15. The $50 course fee will be discounted $5 for two or more people who sign up together. Participants who complete the course will receive Florida Boater Safety Certification Cards.

City Power Toastmasters Club meeting
ST. PETERSBURG – The City Power Toastmasters Club, a nonprofit communication and leadership club, meets Wednesdays from noon to 1 p.m. at the Municipal Services Building, One Fourth St. N., Sixth Floor, Room 600.  

The club teaches self-confidence and skills to help listen, think, speak and gain leadership qualities. Participants gain poise, positive body language and speak more easily.

Faith in Real Life discussion group
LARGO – The Faith in Real Life discussion group will meet Wednesdays, June 17 through Aug. 19, 6 to 7:30 p.m., at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 1199 Highland Ave.

The church invites all adults to its new Faith in Real Life discussion group. The sessions will feature coffee, dessert and discussions of the questions of faith that challenge individuals in today’s modern world.
