AARP Tax-Aide
SAFETY HARBOR – AARP Tax-Aide is available at the Safety Harbor Public Library through April 15. Hours of assistance are Mondays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appointments are not accepted for this first come, first served assistance. AARP recommends bringing your previous year’s tax return and social security card. Tax-Aide is held in the library meeting room and is accessible from the parking lot at the south end of the building.

Explore nature at Mobbly
OLDSMAR – Children ages 6 to 9 are invited to Nature Play on Mondays and Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., at Mobbly Bayou Environmental Education Center, 423 Lafayette Blvd.

The cost is $20 per month with recreation card. Children will have the opportunity to play outside, explore the estuary, participate in nature-oriented games and activities, while developing an appreciation and desire to protect these fragile eco-systems.

Largo Area Historical Society meeting
LARGO — The next meeting of the Largo Area Historical Society will be 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 8, at the Historic Largo Feed Store in Largo Central Park.

Largo Rotary Club membership recruitment
LARGO – The Largo Rotary Club will host a membership recruitment event at noon Monday, Feb. 8, at Alfano’s at 1702 Clearwater-Largo Road in Clearwater. Coinciding with the Rotary District’s event, the Largo Club is seeking citizens interested in giving back to their community.

Locally, the Largo Rotary raises funds to donate to local children’s charities and support community projects such as Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army and West Bay Drive cleanups. The biggest fundraising project of the year is the annual Death By Chocolate, the proceeds of which are donated to groups such as the Largo Little League, Suncoast Performing Arts Foundation and the Greater Largo Library. The club is also accepting applications for funds raised from its Death by Chocolate fundraiser. Applications will be considered for local registered nonprofits and local government agencies that support children’s programs in the greater Largo area. Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee meeting
CLEARWATER – The Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at Banquet Masters, 13355 49th St.

Some events begin at 6 p.m.; the main committee meeting begins at 7 p.m. Anyone joining will receive updates and notices of scheduled meetings.

Revolution Roller Derby open house
TARPON SPRINGS – Revolution Roller Derby will be holding a recruitment open house Monday, Feb. 8, 8 to 10 p.m., at AstroSkate at 875 Cypress St. in Tarpon Springs.

The open house will give information about the sport of roller derby and what it takes to become a skater. Both men and women are welcome, and there is no experience necessary. Make new friends and join a challenging and exciting sport.

The league also needs volunteers, spectators and sponsors to make the games possible.

Revolution Roller Derby is a nonprofit roller derby league featuring the women’s team, The Rolling Valkyries, and the co-ed team, Mom & Pop’s Militia. Practices are held Sundays, 9:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.; Mondays, 7 to 10 p.m., and Wednesdays, 8:30 to 10:30 p.m., at AstroSkate.
