Belleair Women’s Republican Club meeting
BELLEAIR – The Belleair Women’s Republican Club will meet Friday, Feb. 5, at the Belleair Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane. Registration is at 11:30 a.m.; the luncheon meeting is at noon.

AARP Tax-Aide
SAFETY HARBOR – AARP Tax-Aide is available at the Safety Harbor Public Library through April 15. Hours of assistance are Mondays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Appointments are not accepted for this first come, first served assistance. AARP recommends bringing your previous year’s tax return and social security card. Tax-Aide is held in the library meeting room and is accessible from the parking lot at the south end of the building.

Crafts for veterans
PINELLAS PARK – The Pinellas Park Senior Center, 7625 59th St. N., will offer a weekly craft workshop for veterans on Fridays, 1 to 4 p.m.

Projects, which are donated by the Help Hospitalized Veterans Program, include model cars, wood projects, leatherwork, needlecrafts, poster art, beadwork and more.

The crafts aid in rehabilitation, and are designed to restore coordination and impaired motor skills, improve attention spans and concentration, and relieve symptoms of depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and other conditions.

First Fridays
TARPON SPRINGS – The Tarpon Springs Merchants Association will host First Fridays, starting Friday, Feb. 5, 6 to 10 p.m., in downtown Tarpon Springs.

Each month, First Fridays will be a different theme. February’s theme is Victorian Valentine. First Fridays will include music, food, vendors, beer and wine.

The ongoing event in Tarpon Springs is scheduled through November. The city will close Tarpon Avenue from Pinellas Avenue to Hibiscus Street for each of the events.

Booth space for merchant members is free. If you require electric, the fee would be $15.

Friday Night Dinners
LARGO – Friday Night Dinners are served 5 to 8 p.m., with music by Karaoke DJ Bill Johnson, 7 to 11 p.m., at American Legion Post 119, at 130 First Ave. SW. in Largo. The cost is $7.25 and includes shrimp, four-piece chicken and all-you-can-eat fried fish served with rolls, french fries and coleslaw.

Hands Across the Bay blood drive
CLEARWATER – Julie Weintraub’s Hands Across the Bay will sponsor a blood drive in honor of Logan Hooker on Friday, Feb. 5, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Gold & Diamond Source, 3800 Ulmerton Road.

Hooker, now age 5, received his first blood transfusion within eight hours of birth. He has needed additional ones at regular intervals ever since. Two years ago, Logan was finally diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, Pyruvate Kinease Deficiency or Chronic Anemia.

Hands Across the Bay will host a blood drive to help provide blood donations for Logan and other patients who need them to live. Appointments will be honored and walk-ins are welcome. Visit oneblooddonor.org or call 888-936-6283.

All lifesaving blood donors will receive a $50 Gold & Diamond Source gift certificate, OneBlood fleece blanket and a wellness checkup of blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count, including a cholesterol screening.

Honeymoon Island guided walks
DUNEDIN – Guided walks will be offered Oct. 14 through April 1 at Honeymoon Island State Park, 1 Causeway Blvd.

Hikes are offered Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. The hikes are free with paid park admission of $8 per carload. Call 738-2903.

Attendees taking part in Friday beach walks should meet at the South Beach Pavilion at 11 a.m. Those taking part in Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday Osprey Trail Walks should meet at the picnic area.
