Ceilidhs, traditional Gaelic social gatherings
Ceilidhs, traditional Gaelic social gatherings, are held every Friday night from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Scottish American Society of Dunedin, 917 Louden Ave.

The cost is $3 and $5 for nonmembers. The social club is dedicated to the preservation of Scottish culture, offering Scottish country dancing, line dancing, holiday dinners and parties.

Celebration for Treasure Island centenarian
TREASURE ISLAND – Maudie Gurak, a longtime volunteer and 44-year resident of the city of Treasure Island will turn 100 on Friday, April 24. The city is planning a parade and reception April 24 in honor of Maudie’s ;andmark birthday.

The parade will begin at 2 p.m. at Treasure Bay Golf and Tennis Center, 10315 Paradise Blvd., and end at the Treasure Island Community Center on 106th Avenue. A reception will follow at the Community Center from 3 to 6 p.m.

Any individual or group interested in participating in the parade should contact the Treasure Island Recreation Department at 547-4575, ext 237.

On April 27, 1999, Maudie was recognized by the City Commission as “one of the most dedicated volunteers donating hundreds of hours assisting with city-sponsored events and civic organization functions.” Additionally, she was recognized by The Point of Light Committee as an Outstanding Citizen of Pinellas County for service to her neighbors and community.

Celebration of Excellence Benefit Concert and Auction
CLEARWATER - The Tarpon Springs High School Leadership Conservatory for the Arts will host the 15th annual Celebration of Excellence Benefit Concert and Auction Friday, April 24, 6:30 to 11 p.m., at Ruth Eckerd Hall, 1111 McMullen Booth Road, Clearwater.

The event will feature live performances by the students of the acclaimed Tarpon Springs Wind, Jazz, Dance, and Percussion ensembles. The evening’s main events will be live and silent auctions featuring an array of dining, travel, entertainment, and sporting packages.

The event helps to raise funds for the support of the Leadership and Music Conservatory, providing performance opportunities at the highest level and setting a standard of excellence for the students.

Friday Morning Market
TREASURE ISLAND – The Treasure Island and Madeira Beach Chamber of Commerce has resumed its annual Friday Morning Market at the Treasure Island Community Center behind Walgreens. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market is a weekly event through April 24 featuring produce, food, arts and crafts, collectibles and jewelry. For more information, call 360-4121.

Friday Night Dinners
LARGO – Friday Night Dinners are served 5 to 8 p.m., with music by Karaoke DJ Bill Johnson, 7 to 11 p.m., at American Legion Post 119, at 130 First Ave. SW. in Largo. The cost is $7.25 and includes shrimp, four-piece chicken and all-you-can-eat fried fish served with rolls, french fries and coleslaw.

Friends of the Clearwater Public Library book sale
CLEARWATER – The Friends of the Clearwater Public Library will host a book sale from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on April 23 and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 24-25 at the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave.

There will be a special pre–sale event with an entry donation of $10 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on April 22. The books come in all sizes, genre and low prices. Fiction, non-fiction, hard backs, paperbacks, children’s, cookbooks and crafts will be available.

The Friends of the Clearwater Library is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose purpose is to promote, preserve, enhance and support the Clearwater Public Library System for the benefit of the Clearwater community. Monies raised go to Clearwater Public Library System Programs.

Fun Friday Golf Tourney
SEMINOLE – The Knights of Columbus Council 14178 will host a Fun Friday Golf Tourney Friday, April 24, at the Tides, 11832 66th Ave. The tournament will have a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Golfers can begin checking in at noon.

Cost is $60 per golfer and includes a buffet, trophies, photobooth team pictures. Play will be limited to 72 golfers. Contests that day include longest drive, closest to the pin and closest to the line. There also will be a 50/50 raffle and a professional DJ.

Job fair for military members
CLEARWATER – A job fair for active duty and reserve military members transitioning out of the service is planned Friday, April 24, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Dimmitt Chevrolet, 25485 U.S. 19 N., Clearwater.

The job fair, sponsored by Dimmitt and Bank of America, will also be open to the general public.

In addition to Dimmitt Chevrolet and Bank of America, companies participating include Action Fabrication and Truck Equipment, BayCare Health System, BluePearl Veterinary Partners, Chick-fil-A, Eckerd College, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Highway Patrol, ITT Technical Institute, Jungle Cat Marketing, Sunbelt Rentals, The Parts House, WRH Realty Services and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Sunset Market
LARGO – Sunset Market is open every Friday through May, 3 to 7 p.m., in Largo Central Park’s parking lot No. 1, at southwest corner of East Bay and Central Park drives.

Vendors will offer vegetables, fruits, raw local honey, herbal teas and wild-caught seafood as well as organic body products, essential oils, arts and crafts. The focus will be on produce and organic products with about 40 percent of the market dedicated to art and craft vendors.

The market offers several ways for commercial business to advertise as well as two free spaces per market reserved for nonprofit entities.
