Dunedin Concert Band performance
DUNEDIN – “To Life! On Broadway” will be presented Friday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m., at Dunedin High School, 1651 Pinehurst Road, Dunedin.

Admission is a suggested donation of $10 per person. The Dunedin Concert Band performers are very excited to share with audiences a program of well-known classic and modern medleys from popular Broadway and West End stage shows.

MarineMax St. Petersburg grand reopening
ST. PETERSBURG – MarineMax St. Petersburg will host its grand reopening Friday, Feb. 24, 4 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony set for 5 p.m.

The reopening comes after the company invested $2 million upgrading and refurbishing the facilities. The event will feature live music, hors d’oeuvres, and refreshments. On Saturday, Feb. 25, MarineMax will hold a Demo Day Event. Guests can experience select new models from Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, and Sea Pro, by appointment.

Mayors’ Prayer Brunch
TREASURE ISLAND – St. Petersburg Police Chief Tony Holloway will be the featured speaker at the annual Mayors’ Prayer Brunch, Friday, Feb. 24, at The Club at Treasure Island, 400 Treasure Island Causeway.

Doors open at 11 a.m.; brunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.

Treasure Island Mayor Bob Minning and former mayor Mary Maloof will host the brunch. Local clergy will provide prayer.

Music will be provided by GMA Dove Award-winning artist Kenn Mann.

Tickets are $19 a person or $150 for a table of eight and can be purchased at the Treasure Island Chamber of Commerce, 245 107th Ave. or at The Club.

Reservations are required.

Proceeds benefit All Children’s Hospital.

Senior investment club
ST. PETERSBURG – A senior investment club conducts discussions every Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sunshine Center, 330 Fifth St. N.

The free club is open to the public and will feature discussions on anything related to investing. Share your best picks or your worst picks. Ask questions, give your opinion. It’s all about education and fun.

St. Petersburg College Piano Series
ST. PETERSBURG – As part of the St. Petersburg College Piano Series, Joel Schoenhals will perform “The Passion & Power of Bach & Brahms” on Friday, Feb. 24, 7:30 p.m., at the SPC Gibbs Campus Music Center, 6605 Fifth Ave. N., St. Petersburg.

Schoenhals is an American pianist and Steinway Artist as well as a Professor of Piano at Eastern Michigan University. He is China’s first foreign expert in music at Central China Normal University in Wuhan, Hubei, China.

For over 20 years he has been an active performer, lecturer, recording artist, adjudicator and dedicated teacher. He is one of today’s leading pianist-pedagogues. Between 2012 and 2016 Schoenhals performed the cycle of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas, reaching thousands of Michiganders through over 70 community engagement concerts in salon atmospheres as well as in historic Pease Auditorium at Eastern Michigan University.

Schoenhals has received praise for his eight varied solo and chamber music CDs on the Fleur De Son label.

SEMINOLE – The GFWC Pinellas Seminole Woman’s Club will host its 55th annual Fashion Show and Mardi Gras Celebration Saturday, Feb. 25, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the Seminole Community Building, 7464 Ridge Rd.

Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters will serve as the emcee. Fashions will be presented by the Sign of the Dolphin.

Attracting pollinators
ST. PETERSBURG – The Friends of Weedon Island will host a program on attracting pollinators on Saturday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to noon, at Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center, 1800 Weedon Dr. NE, St. Petersburg.

Nanette O'Hara will offer simple tips for attracting bees, butterflies, moths and beneficial wasps to Florida yards. The talk will highlight a recommended “Pollinator Palette” of specific wildflowers, trees and shrubs for West Central Florida landscapes. Florida has 316 native bee species. Attendees will learn how even tiny urban habitats can help support these critically important engines of food production.

O’Hara has served as the public outreach coordinator for the Tampa Bay Estuary Program since 1998. She is responsible for communicating ways residents can contribute to the restoration of Tampa Bay in their own everyday actions and lifestyles.

Blue Jean Ball
BELLEAIR – On Feb. 25, RCS supporters, community officials and new friends will put on their blue jeans for the seventh annual Blue Jean Ball, benefiting RCS. The night of home-cooked food and entertainment will begin at 7 p.m., at a private home in Belleair.

The Blue Jean Ball raises significant funds to provide help and hope for those facing hunger, homeless and domestic violence. Last year’s event raised over $67,000 all benefitting RCS programs. This year’s event is presented by Siracusa Staffing & Leasing. It’s co-chaired by Kacey and Nate Matthews and Tara Kivett and John Daniel.

RCS Inc. has provided help to people in need for 50 years. RCS’s mission is to feed the hungry, help families facing homelessness return to self-sufficiency, and empower survivors of domestic violence. Individuals and families are served with dignity to accomplish this mission at the RCS Food Bank, the RCS Grace House, The Haven of RCS, and the RCS Thrift Store.
