Faces of Love
CLEARWATER – “The Many Faces of Love” will be presented Saturday, Feb. 13, 8 p.m., in the Octagon Arts Center at the Unitarian Universalists of Clearwater, 2470 Nursery Road.

Hooker is known throughout the Metropolitan area as an award-winning jazz vocalist, pianist, songwriter, a storyteller, as well as an events producer and educator. With three critically acclaimed CDs and numerous radio and television appearances to her credit, she performs regularly with her quartet and as a solo artist.

Hart is one of the most sought-after and prolific guitarists on the jazz scene today. A New York fixture for nearly 30 years, he now serves as head of the Jazz Guitar Department at the University of Miami, while continuing to tour globally. A prolific recording artist with eight CDs to his credit, with recordings on both Blue Note and Concord Records,

Hart’s recording career as a leader began in the early ’90s when he formed the John Hart Quartet, featuring the then young star Chris Potter.

Pop-rock quintet R5 brings the Sometime Last Night tour to the Tampa Bay area with a stop at Ruth Eckerd Hall. The tour will feature Ryland as opener.

Led by vocalist/rhythm guitarist Ross Lynch, R5 came together in 2009 and is comprised of Lynch’s siblings Riker (bass and vocals), Rocky (lead guitar and vocals) and Rydel (keyboard and vocals) and friend Ellington “Ratliff” (drums and vocals).

R5 has rapidly emerged as an exciting new voice in the world of pop rock. The band’s sophomore album, “Sometime Last Night,” releases July 10 and is the follow up to their hit debut album “Louder,” which rocketed to No. 1 on iTunes in 10 countries.

Voice in Concert

Voice, the acclaimed British vocal ensemble from Oxford, England, formed in 2006 and brings their 2016 tour, If Music Be the Food of Love, to the United States and Tarpon Springs with songs both new and old to explore the beauty, heartache, and humor of love.

The trio focuses the program on the extraordinary role of women in music - as composers, performers and muses. The concert includes Shakespearean song (in honor of the 400th anniversary of his death), medieval music, folksong arrangements from the United Kingdom and Ireland, and contemporary repertoire including a set of newly commissioned works by British composers – Stevie Wishart, Helen Chadwick, Emily Levy, Ayanna Witter-Johnson, and Marcus Davidson.

Cruisin’ at the Capital
CLEARWATER – The third annual Cruisin’ At The Capitol Street Party will take place Sunday, Feb. 14, noon, on the 300 and 400 blocks of Cleveland Street in the downtown district of Clearwater.

The free event will feature a classic car display and concert. All ages are welcome.

Tampa Bay’s own Black Honkeys and Shevonne and The Bad Boys will perform a free concert. Specialty food vendors will have food and beverages available for sale. There will also be an opportunity drawing for a two-night stay in a one bedroom suite and breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa.

Known for their soul, funk and rhythm ‘n’ blues music, the Black Honkeys have been voted Tampa Bay’s Best Local Band for three years running in Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay Reader’s Choice Awards. Opening for the Black Honkeys is Shevonne and The Bad Boys, a Tampa Bay modern pop, funk and soul band. Singer, Shevonne Philidor, appeared on this year’s season premiere of American Idol and is “going to Hollywood.”

Door prizes for show tickets to the Capitol Theatre and Ruth Eckerd Hall will be given to individuals that register their classic cars by Feb. 5. However, cars may also be registered the day of the event.

ELVIS: A Concert Experience
