With more than 20 years of experience in television, Bill Maher has earned more than 32 Emmy nominations for his hit TV shows and specials. Maher’s first creation, the late night talk show “Politically Incorrect” (Comedy Central, ABC-TV), ran from 1993 to 2002 and featured a round-table discussion of current events with four guests coming from pop culture, politics, and news.

For the past 12 years, “Real Time with Bill Maher” (HBO) has combined Maher’s unflinching honesty with big laughs and has featured many well-known guests including Howard Dean, Ben Affleck, Robin Williams, Arianna Huffington, Cory Book and Michael Moore.

Brickworld
Brickworld, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-26, in the Special Events Building at Florida State Fairgrounds, 4800 U.S. 301 N., Tampa. Hours will be Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

General admission is $10 in advance and $11 the day of the show.

The show will feature 40,000 square feet of creations all built from Lego bricks by local Lego enthusiasts. There will be interactive activities, such as the Lego and Duplo play brick areas, seek and finds, and fighting robots.

Country Jubilee
The 36th annual Heritage Village Country Jubilee, Saturday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Heritage Village, 11909 125th St. N., Largo.

The event is a giant flea market, book sale and holiday crafts showcase. Shoppers will find paintings, jewelry, stained glass and wooden treasures are among the offerings.

There also will be musical entertainment, tours of historical homes and demonstrations of traditional crafts.

New this year, all proceeds from the flea market and book sale will go the restoration fund for the Turner Bungalow.

Ghost Stories & Spooky Tales
LARGO – Wordier Than Thou and Barley Mow Brewery presents an evening of Ghost Stories & Spooky Tales on Saturday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m., at Barley Mow, 518 W. Bay Drive.

Enjoy some delicious beer from Barley Mow while local storytellers and writers get you in the mood for Halloween with their bone-chilling tales.

Storytellers include Ross Tarr, Deborah Frethem, Billie Noakes and Nicholas Richard Wilde. There also will be a reading of a story by local author Christopher Buehlman.

Admission is $5. There will be candy giveaways, a raffle and a costume contest.

John’s Pass Seafood Festival
MADEIRA BEACH – The 33rd annual John’s Pass Seafood Festival will be Friday through Sunday, Oct. 24-26, at Historic John’s Pass Village located in Madeira Beach.

The festival will feature an art and craft show, entertainment and more local seafood vendors than ever before.

New this year, food vendors will be going for bragging rights with free entry to food competitions, including Best Grouper, Best Seafood Dish, People’s Choice, and the inaugural Battle in the Gulf Pass to the Plate Ceviche contest. Local restaurants are welcomed and encouraged to enter the contests and/or reserve booth space.
