Gecko Ball
Sixth annual Gecko Ball, Saturday, Aug. 23, 6 to 11 p.m., at the historic waterfront Gulfport Casino Ballroom, 5500 Shore Blvd. S., Gulfport.

This year’s theme will be “Roaring Geckos.” The theme will evoke the Roaring Twenties, including its music, dancing, hairstyles, clothing and costumes, fads, movies and other popular culture.

The event will feature top décor, cocktail specials, cash bar, hors d’oeuvre, a dinner buffet, commemorative photo booth, dozens of silent auction items, and the popular live auction of geckos created by local artists. Appearing live at this year’s Ball, the Z Street Speakeasy Band will offer dance-floor-ready tunes from the ’20s through today.

Janiva Magness

Liquid Desires Craft Beer Party
