Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe
Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, Friday and Saturday, Feb. 5 and 6, 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Feb. 7, 2 p.m.; at Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine Street, Tarpon Springs. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for Tarpon Arts members and students. Visit www.tarponarts.org.

Iolanthe is a fairy who has committed a capital offense by marrying a mortal; rather than being killed, she was banished from the fairy kingdom, never to see her husband again. After missing her for twenty-five years, the fairies convince the fairy queen to allow Iolanthe to return, but now she has a son, Strephon – half human, half fairy who is in love with Lord Chancellor’s beautiful ward, Phyllis. When the fairies try to help Strephon win his ladylove, some unforeseen complications arise and the fairy queen finds herself in a tangled mess.
