Dar Williams
Dar Williams, Frdiay, March 27, 7:30 p.m., at Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. Tickets start at $30. Call 791-7400 or visit www.atthecap.com.

The American pop folk singer-songwriter possesses a reporter’s keen eye and a fiction writer’s feel for nuance. She takes an honest, objective look at life – her own and that of those around her.

Once a neo-folkie influenced by Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez and Judy Collins, she is now a seasoned artist with an uncanny ability to understand the characters in her songs and treat them with unbiased compassion. She also examines her own life with piercing honesty and humor.

Through it all, her songs reflect her unwavering faith in the ability of people to make a better world. Recurrent themes in Williams’ songs are religion, adolescence, gender issues, loss and humor. Her biggest hits include “Iowa,” “Summer Child” and “As Cool as I Am.”
