Morton Plant Mease will host several health seminars in the coming weeks, including programs that will spotlight concussions, Parkinson’s Disease, obesity and stress.

Following is a schedule of upcoming seminars:
• Treatments for Parkinson’s Disease – Wednesday, July 17, noon, at Aging Well Center at The Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater. Neurosurgeon Dean Gobo, M.D., will speak about the latest surgical treatment options for Parkinson’s disease.
• Revealing the Dangers of Obesity – Wednesday, July 17, 6 p.m., at Mease Countryside Hospital, Meeting Rooms 1-3, Safety Harbor. Family medicine specialist Christina Franco, M.D., will talk about how obesity leads to serious health problems such as sleep apnea, heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, cancer, diabetes, osteoarthritis, gallstones, gallbladder disease, gout and asthma. Franco will focus on the relationship between obesity and sleep apnea and provide information on healthy weight loss alternatives.
• Caregiving for the Parkinson’s Patient – Monday, July 22, 2 p.m., at the Aging Well Center at The Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater. Marian Finehirsch, R.N., will talk about techniques for communicating and interacting with the Parkinson’s patient. Discover activities that the person with Parkinson’s and their family can do together and learn more about some of the issues that come with having Parkinson’s disease.
• How to Recognize and Handle Stress – Wednesday, July 24, noon, at Countryside Library, Community Room, 2741 State Road 580, Clearwater. Internal medicine specialist Cynthia Miller, M.D., will discuss how to recognize good and bad stress and offer healthy tips to treat stress.
