LARGO – The Aquatics Division of the city of Largo Recreation, Parks and Arts Department will offer a new season of water exercise for those suffering from arthritis.
Classes are offered at the Highland Family Aquatic Center, 400 Highland Ave. NE.
For the month of August, classes will be presented Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., beginning Aug. 1. There will be no class on Aug. 15 and Aug. 25-29. Cost is $27 for residents, $33.75 for nonresidents and drop in fees are $4/$5/$8.
For the month of September, classes will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 11 a.m. to noon, beginning Sept. 3. Cost is $36 for residents, $45 for nonresidents and drop in fees are $4/$5/$8.
The class is taught by an Arthritis Foundation certified instructor and is conducted in shallow water with a step entry/exit and an ADA lift. No swimming skills are required, however, one should be comfortable in waist deep water. As with any exercise program, participants should check with their doctor before starting. A lifeguard will be on duty during all class times.
Those interested can try their first class for free. Each participant also must have a Largo Recreation Card, which can be purchased at the Highland Recreation Complex.
