CLEARWATER – BayCare health experts will present several health seminars in September focusing on prostate cancer and positive airway pressure therapy.
The monthly seminars are free to the public and are presented at BayCare’s various Morton Plant Mease facilities and community centers around Pinellas County. To register for a seminar, call 953-6877 or visit www.BayCareEvents.org.
Following is a list of September seminars:
• Learn More About Prostate Cancer – Wednesday, Sept. 17, noon, at the Aging Well Center at The Long Center, Grand Room, 1501 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater. Urologist Dr. Mitchell Klavans will discuss early detection of prostate cancer and treatment options. Registration is required.
• Your Nose Knows: Improving Positive Airway Pressure Use – Wednesday, Sept. 17, 6 p.m., at Mease Countryside Hospital, Meeting Rooms 1-3, 3231 McMullen Booth Road, Safety Harbor. Dr. Zahid Akram will explain how positive airway pressure therapy is used to treat obstructive sleep apnea. Akram also will discuss methods to resolve upper airway issues associated with PAP therapy.
• Ten Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s – Wednesday, Sept. 24, noon, at the Aging Well Center at The Long Center, Grand Room, 1501 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater. Neurologist Diana Pollock, M.D., will cover ways to go about identifying whether or not a person is developing Alzheimer’s disease.
• Make the Most of Your Memory – Thursday, Sept. 25, 2 p.m., at Ptak Orthopaedic and Neuroscience Pavilion, 430 Morton Plant St., Room 114, Clearwater. Neuropsychologist Angela McBride will outline the four pillars of brain health: diet, exercise, stress management and cognitive activity. Refreshments will be served.
