LARGO – HEALTHSOUTH Largo will join facilities nationwide on Sept. 20-26, to celebrate National Rehabilitation Week, which recognizes the positive effects of rehabilitation and applauds the accomplishments of people with disabilities.
The week will be highlighted again this year with the 11th annual Survivor Celebration, on Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. This event honors those rehabilitation patients that have overcome severe debilities as a result of injury or illness.
In addition, the week will conclude with the second annual Healthsouth Rehabilitation Hospital Health Fair on Sept. 25, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Health Fair, open to the public, will showcase over 20 local vendors with free product samples and health information, food vendors with samples from 11:30am – 1:30am as well as free health screenings including:
- Blood Sugar
- Vision and Hearing
- Balance and Fall Prevention
- Stop Smoking Information
- Nutritional Services
- American Heart Association Information
- Blood Pressure
- Memory Screenings

National Rehabilitation Week was established in 1976 to create awareness of people with disabilities and the effects of rehabilitation. In 1990, a presidential proclamation designated the third week of September as National Rehabilitation Week, which has grown to include more than 7,000 organizations.
