LARGO – David Weiland Jr., M.D., was recently named Largo Medical Center’s new Chief Medical Officer.
Weiland is board certified in internal medicine and palliative medicine and joins Largo Medical Center with more than two decades of healthcare experience. Weiland served as vice president of medical affairs at Bayfront Medical Center, medical director for Suncoast Hospice and ER physician at the Bay Pines VA Health System and the James A. Haley Veteran's Hospital in Tampa. He was in private practice at the Downtown Medical and Diagnostic Center in St. Petersburg.
"Largo Medical Center is fortunate to have the knowledge and expertise that Dr. Weiland brings to our leadership team," said Anthony Degina in a press release. Degina is CEO of Largo Medical Center. "He will be an asset in assisting the hospital and its medical staff to expand services and continue to improve quality outcomes."
Weiland received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College in Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree and completed residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Through the years, he has served on numerous boards and committees including the Pinellas County Medical Association, the Florida Medical Association and the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education.
