CLEARWATER – The Aging Well Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road, will host brain health seminars in October. University of South Florida clinical faculty and Morton Plant/Baycare Health System staff doctors will conduct the series of discussions, which will be free to the public.
Dr. Nancy Muscato, USF aural rehabilitation manager, will lead a seminar on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 11 a.m., on the relationship between hearing and your mind, including studies indicating a link between hearing ability and cognitive activity in relation to aging. Auditory screenings follow at noon.
Dr. Lauri Wright, USF public health professor, will offer a talk on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2 p.m., on “The Mediterranean Diet and Your Mind.” She will discuss benefits for brain function and that studies of those who follow this diet call it the ‘gold standard for good health and longevity.’ A cooking demonstration with sampling follows the seminar.
