The Florida Department of Health in Pinellas County is fortunate to have physicians, nurses and other health professionals who donate their time to provide care to uninsured patients who cannot afford to see a doctor.
While the physicians and staff donate their time, equipment is sometimes a challenge for volunteers to find.
DOH-Pinellas' medical volunteers need ultrasound equipment to help them diagnose their patients. In the past, doctors' offices and other health facilities have donated equipment they're no longer using to the volunteer program, but ultrasound equipment has been difficult to find.
Anyone with ultrasound equipment they can donate to help patients in need should call the DOH-Florida volunteer coordinator at 820-4125.
