LARGO – Emmy Vardeleon, founder and executive director of A Palms Staffing, is hosting the Health Fair Expo and Fundraiser to help patients who can’t afford their vital medication on Friday, Nov. 9, 1:30 to 5 p.m., in the Parkview Room at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive.
Vardeleon has been in the healthcare industry fore more than 20 years and saw firsthand how elderly patients go without the medicines that are necessary to survive and living in conditions that are not acceptable. One of her patients has been living without air conditioning in her garage apartment over the summer so she can afford her medication. To combat the heat, this patient has been taking three to four cold showers a day.
Vardeleon started Comfort Home Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization, to help such patients.
The fair expo will feature health vendors and exhibitors, door prizes and a silent auction. Largo Mayor Patricia Gerard will be a keynote speaker at 3 p.m. The foundation is looking for more items to include in the auction.
A Palms Staffing provides affordable home care services to those who need help with daily activities.
