CLEARWATER - The skies above Morton Plant Hospital will, once again, glow over a seven-story lights display in the shape of a giant Christmas tree.
Community members are invited to celebrate the holidays at the 28th Annual Morton Plant Hospital Holiday Lights on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 6 to 7 p.m., in the main entrance parking lot, 300 Pinellas St. in Clearwater.
The free event takes place each year by the Morton Plant Caring Partners, the hospital’s volunteer organization that supports community outreach programs including services for cancer survivors.
Hot cocoa and cookies will be served and the Morton Plant Caring Clowns will perform holiday music. A $5 donation will sponsor a light on the tree and wreaths may be sponsored with a $100 dollar donation, in memory of loved ones.
Proceeds from the event include supporting Camp Living Springs. The camp is a free, three-day retreat for cancer survivors. This year, 61 cancer survivors enjoyed and participated in Camp Living Springs.
Mease hospitals host Deck the Halls
Deck the Halls, a free holiday event that includes free homemade pastries and holiday carols and presentations by local youth groups, will take place Tuesday, Dec. 1, 6 to 7 p.m., at Mease Dunedin Hospital, 601 Main St., Dunedin; and Wednesday, Dec. 2, 6 to 7 p.m., at Mease Countryside Hospital, 3231 McMullen Booth Road, Safety Harbor.
Participants will be given flameless tea lights to hold during the ceremonial lighting of the wreaths that will decorate the hospitals during the holiday season.
Community members may make a donation in honor of, or in memory of, a loved one. The donations support the Auxiliary of Mease Health Care, the volunteer organization for the hospitals and include CareLift, a free transportation system for patients who have no transportation to doctor or hospital visits.
