LARGO – The Gulf Coast Museum of Art, in partnership with St. Petersburg College, will offer noncredit art classes and workshops for adults and kids, ages 7 to 12, beginning Monday, Jan. 16, and concluding early March. Later sessions begin in mid March and conclude in early May.
Courses are offered in a wide range of media, including ceramics, metalsmithing, oil and acrylic painting, figurative sculpture, Asian brush painting, drawing, printmaking, and batik and screen printing. Two weekend workshops will feature the Japanese ceramic art technique of raku and beginning silversmithing. Raku will be taught two Saturdays in February and silversmithing on Saturdays in March.
Classes are offered to the students in exploring clay, drawing and painting and mixed media. Their schedules are concurrent with the adult classes.
Registration for the spring 2006 classes and workshops can be taken at the museum or at any St. Petersburg College campus. Most classes are in the museum’s studio classrooms. For a class brochure, call 518-6833, ext. 200, or 341-4498. Students may also register at the museum, 12211 Walsingham Road.
