Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art to host For the Love of Art

TARPON SPRINGS - The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art will host For the Love of Art at the Museum on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 p.m. - the first time the Gala will be at the Museum which will be festively decorated for the evening.

The black-tie optional gala is the Museum's most elegant social function of the season with proceeds supporting exhibitions and programming at the Museum. The Museum's fundraising organization, Palette Society, presents For the Love of Art.

For the Love of Art begins at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction featuring a wide selection of items including original art, sports memorabilia, spa packages, travel packages, restaurant gift certificates and jewelry. Heavy hors d'oeuvres, desserts and beverages will be served all evening. Entertainment and special surprises are included. The cost to attend is $100. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Museum at 712-5762.

The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is located just west of Highway 19 at 600 Klosterman Road, on the Tarpon Springs Campus of St Petersburg College. Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tues. through Sat.; evening hours are Thurs., 5 to 9 p.m., and Sun. hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free to children and students with ID. Sunday admission is free to all. The Museum is closed on major holidays. Please call ahead for details.

Dance Video

The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, in collaboration with the Pinellas Opera League, presents a series of dance videos. A dance video starring the Alexandrov Red Army Choir, Orchestra and Dance Ensemble will be shown Saturday, Feb. 4 at 1:30 p.m. in the Museum Auditorium. The program is offered free to everyone and will be enjoyed be children as well as adults.

On the Easel

Tarpon Springs - The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art presents the monthly program, On the Easel, on Wednesay, Feb. 8, 1 p.m. in the Museum Lobby. On the Easel is a program designed to acquaint attendees with works of art gifted to the Museum collection or works that are on loan to the Museum. February's discussion will feature Abraham Rattner's Sag Harbor Figures, 1967. A question and answer period will follow. On the Easel is included in the cost of admission to the Museum.

Opera Video

The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art, in collaboration with the Pinellas Opera League, presents a continuing series of operatic video events. Franco Alffano's "Cyrano de Bergerac" will be shown on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 1:30 p.m. The video will be shown in the Museum Auditorium and is offered free to everyone.

Summer Art and Drama Camp

The Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art is pleased to present Summer Art & Drama Camp. The camp is designed to offer an array of art and drama experiences to children ages 6 to 13, divided into two age groups. Camp group sizes will be limited to ensure that each camper receives individual attention and is enriched by the experience.

Summer Art & Drama Camp is June 12 to 16 and June 19 to 23, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Campers may enroll in either or both weeks.

The cost for Museum members is $100 a week and for non-members the cost is $150 a week. Call the Education Department for details and to register at (727) 712-5226.
