BAY PINES - A Veterans Creative Arts Festival is Thursday, Feb. 13, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the JC Cobb room, on the first floor of the main medical center building at the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System’s C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines.
Presented in conjunction with VA’s National Salute to Veteran Patients Week – a week designated to pay tribute and express appreciation to Veterans – the competition includes 53 categories in the visual arts division this year that range from oil painting to leatherwork to paint-by-number kits.
In addition, there are 120 categories in the performing arts pertaining to all aspects of music, dance, drama and creative writing. Veterans enrolled for VA health care services through the Bay Pines VAHCS are invited to register for the event and compete in one or several of the following divisions: visual art, creative writing, dance, drama or music. A national selection committee chooses first, second and third place winners among all of the entries. Select winners will be invited to attend the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival in Milwaukee, Wis. in October.
Family members, friends and general spectators are welcome to attend.
