Pam Pawl works at her loom. Pawl will talk about the art of weaving at Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Feb. 14 Coffee & Conversation.
DUNEDIN - Free Coffee & Conversation with Pam Pawl at the Dunedin Fine Art Center Thursday, Feb. 14, noon.
Hanging out, drinking delicious coffee, talking about art… ahhh, that’s the life! Well it is the life at least for an hour or so each month at the Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Coffee & Conversation series. Enjoy free coffee, presented by the Sterling Society, and free insights as each month’s invited guest holds forth on their own area of expertise.
February’s invited artist, Pam Pawl’s presentation is entitled – Expression through Weaving: THE PATH. She will discuss using your own experience as a starting point in your design process, using her journey as an example and sharing her and her student’s weaving.
Pawl believes that in this day and age of computer screens and fast paced technology, working with real materials keeps one grounded and is good for the soul. She has a bachelor’s degree in Textile Design from Philadelphia College of Textiles and sees it as her duty to pass on the information that she’s gathered over the years.
Since 1995 , she has taught courses in weave design and dyeing at University of the Arts, Philadelphia University, Moored College of Art, Penland School of Crafts, the Newark Museum Weaving Workshop and at guild conferences across the country. It is now her hope to establish a unique and in depth weaving program at the Dunedin Fine Art Center.
