Last year's Chalk Walk artists work on their masterpieces.
INDIAN ROCKS BEACH - The Beach Art Center’s Beauty and the Beach Fine Arts and Crafts Festival is a traditional one-day festival located at Kolb Park, Indian Rocks Beach.

Part of a city-wide festival, the April 6, event features a street scale chalk walk and a home town atmosphere with live music by Tailspin.  Acceptable works are painting, fiber/textiles, drawing/graphics, ceramics, glass, photography, wood, hand crafted jewelry, sculpture and other fine crafts.

Prize money of $1,000 will be awarded to exhibiting artists. Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For prospectus and more information, contact the Beach Art Center, 1515 Bay Palm Boulevard, Indian Rocks Beach, FL 33785, 727-596-4331 or by email at arts1515@aol.com. The prospectus also is online at www.beachartcenter.org under Events, Beauty and the Beach.

Chalk Walk sponsors and artists needed

Chalk Walk 2013 is an opportunity for creative people to get out into the street and design their own individual artwork.  Taking place at the annual Beauty and the Beach Fine Arts and Crafts Festival in Kolb Park on April 6, (part of a city-wide festival with an attendance of 3,000 to 4,000), it is modeled after the Italian tradition of street painting.

Artists are assigned squares in the street in front of the Beach Art Center. The artist may create their own painting, copy from a famous work or just let their imaginations run free.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Brenda B. Ehrke, financial adviser with Edward Jones, Belleair Bluffs, there are nearly $400 in cash prizes for the best of the street painters - Best of Show: $200, First Place: $100, Second Place : $50 and Third Place: $25.

Regular Chalk Walk 2013 sponsorships are $100 per 8-inch by 8-inch space. Sponsorship includes a 2013 Beauty and the Beach Fine Art Festival T-shirt, recognition in BAC’s website and newsletter and on a placard on the day of the festival. The artists for the event have been made up of elementary and high school students, groups of friends, families, winter visitors and professional artists. Anyone may participate. A sponsorship can entitle you to be the artist, or we will supply artists for your square.

Proceeds from the event are used to further the programs of the Beach Art Center, serving the beaches and mid-Pinellas County through arts education and enrichment programs for adults and children.  The Beach Art Center is a non-profit 501©3 and your contribution is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
