ST. PETERSBURG - Eclectic Spring: an Artlink professional artist group exhibition is on display April 3-18, at The Mahaffey Theater, 400 First St. S., St. Petersburg.
The exhibition will be viewable during ticketed events. Eclectic Spring is part of a partnership between Creative Clay Cultural Arts Center and The Mahaffey Theater, showcasing the work of professional artists who have participated in Creative Clayís Artlink Supported Employment Program.
The exhibit showcases the work of three local professional artists: Vivian Bowman Granese, Rose Marie Prins and Julie Price. All three artists bring distinctly different styles to the exhibition and have been dedicated collaborators of Creative Clay for many years.
Vivian Bowman Granese is a professional teaching artist and assists in the Creative Clay Transition program. A resident of St. Petersburg, Bowman received her initial training in commercial art and advertising and has been teaching art locally for the past 25 year. She works with oil on canvas, and strives for a style that combines classical realism with a contemporary twist. She creates art to communicate, drawing from her experiences and reflections. Her landscapes demonstrate an enduring appreciation and fascination with the natural world.
Rose Marie Prinsí award-winning mixed media work has been exhibited throughout the United States and in her native country, South Africa. For more than a decade she has taught painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed media in numerous institutions in the Tampa Bay area including Ringling College of Art and Design, Eckerd College, Hillsborough Community College and the Morean Arts Center.
Julie Price has been a Guest Artist at Creative Clay for four years teaching wheel throwing and hand-building to adults with disabilities. She has been making pottery and ceramic art for more than 10 years. She started her career in art by attending Syracuse University and received a BFA in Illustration in 1990. She creates pottery and ceramic sculpture to convey her ideas, thoughts and feelings about the world around her.
