TARPON SPRINGS - The controversial work of International Exhibiting Photographer, Jason Dowd of Dowd Studios Inc. called "Dreams, Nightmares, Fears and Fantasy" collection; has been a work in progress for more than years and now hangs on the wall of "Rudolph's Gallery," 39340 Hwy. 19 N., in Tarpon Springs.
The series is the first photographic art series produced by Dowd, who will appear at the galleries grand unveiling of new artists on Thursday, June 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The show is free.
Dreams, Nightmares, Fears and Fantasy collection is a photographic art series encompassing everything from fantasy to horror and beauty to the macabre. The eclectic collection utilizes a shock factor to breathe life into the strange and unusual; making those scenarios more normal.
This is not the first time the series has been on display. The exhibit had it's world debut in THAT GALLERY in Hong Kong, China and made many appearances in and around the Tampa Bay area. In August, two signature pieces from the collection will be on a temporary display in San Diego's Lyceum Theatre Gallery.
Rudolph's Gallery is not your "typical" gallery, that's what made it so appealing to Dowd. The gallery has amazing works of art from very talented artists, but the subject matter is more abstract, following the same lines as Dowd's work.
Rudolph's Gallery will permanently house around 21 pieces of "Dreams, Nightmares, Fears and Fantasy" collection ranging in sizes of 4 by 6 prints to 11 by 14 proofs. All matted and ready to frame. The gallery will also have pieces from his "Lighthouse collection" and some animals he's photographed along the way.
"I am so excited and honored to be apart of this great gallery," Dowd said. "And it's the first gallery affiliation for the series, besides being on a temporary display across the world. This place fits my work so well, its going to be a long wonderful relationship."
